Wissenswertes

Alle ATI-Treiber, die neuer sind als Fglrx 8.42.3, erhalten fortan die Bezeichnungen und Versionsnummern der entsprechenden Windows-Pendants. Das hat zur Folge, dass z.B. die Treiberversion die unmittelbar nach 8.42.3 erschien, die Bezeichnung Catalyst 7.11 erhielt. Dies sorgte bei einigen Anwendern für Verwirrung. Installation von notwendigen Paketen

Vor der eigentlichen Installation muss das System vorbereitet werden, sprich die für die Grafikkartentreiber notwendigen Pakete müssen installiert sein. Dies kann zum Beispiel recht komfortabel mit YaST2, Smart, oder APT geschehen.

Diese Anleitung setzt die Kenntnis folgender Artikel vorraus:


Falls eine 32bit-Installation verwendet wird sind diese Pakete zu installieren:

Folgende Pakete (inkl. eventueller Abhängigkeiten) müssen installiert sein:
  • kernel-source » muss mit der Version des Kernel übereinstimmen!
  • gcc
  • XFree86-Mesa-libGL
  • libstdc++
  • libgcc
  • XFree86-libs
  • fontconfig
  • freetype
  • zlib


Wenn die SuSE Linux Version auf 64-bit basiert, müssen diese Pakete installiert sein:

Folgende Pakete (inkl. eventueller Abhängigkeiten) müssen installiert sein:
  • kernel-source » muss mit der Version des Kernel übereinstimmen!
  • compat-32bit
  • qt3-32bit
  • libdrm
  • libstdc++
  • libgcc
  • xorg-x11-libs-32bit
  • xorg-x11-devel-32bit
  • Mesa-32bit
  • Mesa-devel-32bit
  • fontconfig-32bit
  • expat-32bit
  • freetype2-32bit
  • zlib-32bit
  • gcc


Außerdem sind die „make“ Befehle notwendig. Diese falls nicht vorhanden bitte auch nachinstallieren.

Achtung: Die Kernelversionen müssen übereinstimmen!

Es kann das Übereinstimmen beispielsweise nachvollzogen werden, indem installierte Pakete, die den Begriff "kernel" enthalten aufgelistet werden. Eine Auflistung wird beispielsweise durch diesen Befehl erzielt:

rpm -qa | grep kernel



Nachdem jetzt alle Pakete vorbereitet sind, bitte nochmals mittels eines Onlineupdates überprüfen, ob alle Pakete auch aktualisiert wurden. Anschließend den ganzen Rechner bitte einmal neu starten.

8.29.6 20 September, 2006 support for the latest Linux kernel, 2.6.18. Version 8.29.6 ends support for Radeon R200 based cards (i.e., the series of Radeon 8500 through 9250).
8.28.8 18 August, 2006 support for ATI Radeon Xpress 1200, 1250 and 1300 models and allows IBM/Lenovo, ThinkPads to switch the active display devices using the Fn+F7 hotkey. ATI now publish a unified installer which detects the host architecture (x86 or amd64) and installs the appropriate packages. The driver now remembers which display devices were activated across restarts, rather than unilaterally enabling all attached displays. Some problems with XVideo have been identified with this release. For more information see the
8.27.10 27 July, 2006 support for X.Org 7.1 as well as Fedora Core. Issues relating to OpenGL with Java2D and launching XGL on display :0 have been fixed. However, TV Out is still unsupported on Radeon X1x00 cards and the OpenGL issues with Radeon 9000 appear to be unresolved.
8.26.18 26 June, 2006 mostly concerned with minor bug fixes. However, it does include an events daemon which allows hotplugging of Digital Flat Panels and thermal throttling of the GPU through daemon events to prevent overheating.
8.25.18 24 May, 2006 support for FireGL V7350, V7300, V7200, V5200, V3400, V3350 & V2200 and enables DPMS support by default. X.Org 7.0 is now supported by the installer. At least eleven issues have been resolved with this release.
8.24.8 18 April, 2006 support for X.Org 7.0 and kernel 2.6.16. According to the driver now supports the Radeon X1300/X1600/X1800/X1900 (including Mobility versions of these) as well as adding accelerated video support on Avivo cards.
