Eine entsprechende Beschreibung (für OpenSUSE, sollte aber universell sein) steht hier: Open SuSE auf DVD brennen.
Bootbaren USB-Stick erzeugen
Unter der Voraussetzung, dass das System über USB booten kann (i.d.R. ist das im BIOS einstellbar) und es sich um ein sogenanntes Hybrid ISO-Image handelt, kann das ISO-Image auch per dd auf einen ausreichend großen USB-Stick geschrieben und anschließend der Computer damit gebootet werden.
